Falconbacker:
Have this book in my library and thought everyone here might be interested in it. I bought the book years ago (I can't remember where though) and imagine opening the cover of a book Copyrighted and 1945 and finding it signed by the USNC General in charge of the invasion. That was just the start, at the back of the book I found some folded up papers and guess what! One was a copy of the Distinguished Service medal given to at that time Major General Julian C Smith by Secretary of the Nave James Forrestal for the President, and the Presidential Unit Citation for the Second Marine Division (Reinforced) and finally a copy of the Retirement orders dated DEC 1946 for Lieutenant General Julian C smith from the Commandant of the USMC-A A Vandegrift.... I may be loaning this to the local museum to keep it safe. Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki I also have my wifes father (RIP) photo album with pics from the Pacific that I will be scanning into my Fotki albums soon.
