SWS - Russian Compound Gate - Review
« on: July 04, 2012, 08:11:47 PM »

Hello all members of this great forum called Trackpads.co.uk !

I'm here today to tell you about a new product produce by D.O.A. , which I'm most excited to build. Its the SWS - Diorama Series  "Russian Compound Gate" ! This Gate is a mix of architectural styles that could/can be found in some Russian Buildings.
This resin jewel was made by the "master" Carlos Elias Llop, a Spanish modeller well know by his amazing works! He did a beautiful job on this one and I leave my best words for him!
The box is made out of card and seems very sturdy, all the pieces come bubble wrapped! The Box Art Is very clean and gives you all the information needed for building this gate! Since there is no assembly instruction (and there is no need for it since the gate is made out of 5 pieces ... which 2 are optional). Regarding painting schemes just use your imagination... I will !!!

The model itself fits very well... minor adjustments need to be done. An there are some air bubbles in the resin but all in places that are not visible and may actually help when you are gluing the parts together!

I will make a building log here on TP's Forum regarding this product so stay tuned! Now let me show you some photos of what I'm talking about :

Where can you buy it ??? here : http://trackpads.co.uk/doashop/index.php?route=product/product&path=66&product_id=146

Overall :
This is a awesome model with great detail very robust and for sure will do wonders in your future "Russian" dioramas! For the amount of detail and resin it seems that the price is more then reasonable... its really a bargain! (So grab yours today while you still can :D )
The few parts mean this is made with KISS concept so there is no way you can mess it up. (KISS = Keep it Simple Sir)
If I had to point a flaw... it would be the weight ... its a bit heavy since its resin solid no hollow parts! Dont try to build this on top of fragile "terrains" !
