Looks like a hell of a build there Nick good choice, BB cast some bits on his build and talked us though it you might find that useful if your going to recast bits might as well have a look mate might help.lot of spare bits in there mate you could open your own shop flogging bits to TP i think he is after more fence
I'll have to remember your tip on lining the front and back up once i have a go at a miniart building, you don't half get a lot for your money.

Alex, know exactly what your saying about moneys worth....ATm i'm goping to sculpt a few more building facades out of styrofoam & use all the spare parts fro mthis kit.
this is my 4th miniart building, & i have to say so far its my biggest challenge to date, as its a large building & it has an angular frontage, that doesnt quite mate up right, so needs a lot of filling & sanding before it looks right....but I love these miniart buildings, cos once youve knocked it together they are a dream to detail & paint with all the spares, & they are load lighter than using plaster

Only a brief update as ive speny the last few days filling & sanding , filling 7 sading, filling & sanding.....think you prob get the drift......To sum it up in a nutshell....this kit is a PIG, it doesnt fit too well, ive followed my tried & trusted method, ive even followed steps from the tutorial, but theres that many angled bits that dont glue together properly its becoming a drag...oh well it will all be worth it in the end.

I'll have to remember to stay away from this one then,Like most things with miniart you think you have it sorted them along come a pig be worth it in the end Nick.

Well, the miniart building is all but built, it dont look much atm due to the amount of fller, think I used half a tube of B&Q readymix filler.
Here it is
Ive scratchbuilt a bit of damaged wall at the top, & added most of the railing work the roof & balcony
Again nicked ideas from the "lets build diorama" book on making brickwork showing through the rendering. The bricks are from the stash which I have bags off, think i ordered them off ebay a & cost me a couple of quid a bag. i also have moulds for making my own bricks too that I bought from an american diorama company called Kancali
Next will be painting then I will start adding the windows, doors etc
Im also contemplating adding ths building from great north roads too,
Heres the parts, as usual from Gret north roads, they are superbly detailed & cast
So Ive put this together, & I will paint it & see if it will fit into the whole plan once i start putting the diorama together

lookin good nick looks like you ot a lot of sanding to do woth hat miniart one though,be nice to see some paint on it,i like the GNR stuff but looking at some of the buildings they can seem a bit out of scale (to large)but he does some great stuff and good prices i think.

rightho, most of the filing & sanding done, heres where i'm up to on the dio build
primed the GNR building ready for painting, first i painted it in a coat of watered down pva to stop the plaster absorbing all the paint, next ive painted it with halfords grey primer ready for the main coats now
Next up the minart building has been primed, then Ive basecoated it with a mix of revell beigr, granite grey & buff as an undercoat. All will be revealed as the pics come
theres still some filling N bits to do on this, & it stll looks a bit iffy in places, but once painted & the detaisl are added such as doors & window frames, a lot of the rough bits wont be noticed, plus the house has to be half buried in rubble yet too
Next step once this was dry was to randomly stipple humbrol maskol onto the paintwork. Once this is dry, the hosue will be getting a coat of a reddy orange base colour as per the boxart. The plan is once this dries, the maskol is rubbed off to reveal the chipped off paint showing the stonework underneath the paint

the scale looks fine to me Tp, i dont think the GNR buildings are that bad myself.
Right heres some more updates, heres the building painted with the maskol ( the purple splodges )
next it was sprayed a nice dark orange colour. Once this had dried, I just rubbed the surface with my finger to peel away the maskol, & this is the result
Im going to add some chip back in with the orange to make it look a bit more random, but its quite effective so far.....
Next at model club tonight, i got this finished
Due to the crew that comes with this being in summer gear, ive had a rummage through my spares box through old figures I havent used, & come up with this as a mix n match winter pak crew
the dude on the left is the tamiya dog handler from the winter fied briefing set, the centre 1 is tamiya winter flak crew, & the guy on the right is an alanger panzer rider.
Also in the spares not used are these 2 guys from the winter grenadier set
Whilst at model club i strted on the gen2 korsun pocket figures, & I have to say they are gorgeous...the detail is phenomenal, if you look closely you can see the spare drum magazine in his jacket poclet...now thats detail
